Oblique

Oblique drawing is a method of representing an object in 3 dimensions. It is one of the simplest methods of 3 dimensional rendering, though because the projected lines are parallel it is not truly convincing to the eye.

The most common method ooblique.giff oblique drawing is to draw one side or face of the object in 2 dimensions, i.e. flat, then draw the other sides at a 45 degree angle.

This is not true 3 dimensional drawing and is often referred to as "forced depth". To give the oblique drawing an element of realism often the projected sides (at 45 degrees) are drawn at half depth.

Oblique drawing is a simple method that can give an object depth, though it is rarely used by professional designers or engineers.
